Mill Stand

As the remainder of the mill's equipment is working on the rolls, they are held in place with the help of mill stands. The support must be substantial and sturdy enough to withstand the pressure that the rolls apply when they are in use. When the rolls need to be replaced or repaired, the stands also need to have the ability to move the rolls apart. Hot or cold ferrous or non-ferrous strips, wires, and even rods can be rolled in rolling mills. Mill stands can be used for hot or cold breakdown and finishing of bar, sheet, or strip. These are also be used for embossing, compacting, and finish rolling of thin gauge stock.
